Payroll Specialist

Job Summary: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and other related functions for the Canada region and all U.S. garnishments.

Job Specific Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Core Responsibilities: HR Policies, Strategies and Environment * Maintain high knowledge on all of the company's payroll policies and governmental regulations impacting payroll preparation. * Consult with managers and employees on payroll questions, policy and legal regulations. Reporting and Analysis * Creates accurate monthly payroll reports in agreed format and to prescribed deadlines. * Assists with payroll reporting analysis and audits. * Troubleshoots and resolves system problems Onboarding of new hires * Accurately and timely enters pay and tax information into the payroll system so new hires are paid on time and accurately. * Researches questions to ensure accuracy Payroll Administration * Process timely and accurately all staffing changes, including new hires, transfers, terminations, and other amendments to salaries and employee data. * Coordination with all managers, offices and payroll vendor * Payroll processing on pay schedule of region/country. * Validation of payroll and HR Data Base. * Final auditing of outputs and ensuring error free & on-time deliveries * Processes reimbursements, loan processing and other benefit plan payments * Incorporates employee leaves/absences from attendance system, if applicable

HRIS Systems * Maintain a high level of skill on the applicable HR Information System (HRIS) * Maintain a high knowledge level or applicable regulations for country(s) managed * Follow all local, regional and global payroll procedures as outlined * Maintain confidentiality for all payroll related items * Report system technical issues to the site admin or report to the vendor, per local procedure * Maintain good relationships with the system vendor Other * This job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required for this position. Education / Knowledge / Experience: Essential * 2-5 years of experience in payroll processing for the Canada region * 2-5 years of experience with U.S. garnishments * Capability of exercising extreme discretion * Proficient in Microsoft applications; Word, Excel, Outlook * Strong understanding of HRIS and HCM systems * Basic knowledge of Payroll Taxes and Accounting * Must be able to take direction and work well with others * Must be able to work under the stress of and meet deadlines * Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately while meeting applicable productivity measures Preferred * Excellent commercial English skills * Fluency in a second major language applicable to the region supported
